Italy probes TikTok ‘blackout challenge’ after 10-year-old girl dies, authority to block unverified users

The Italian Data Protection Authority has directed Chinese short-video making app TikTok to block unverified users in Italy until at least February 15. The Italian watchdog began an investigation into the accidental death of a 10-year-old girl who allegedly took part in a “blackout challenge” on TikTok, as per reports. The child died of asphyxiation, and authorities were investigating whether anyone invited her to try the challenge.
