Microsoft is retiring Internet Explorer after 27 years

Microsoft has officially retired the venerable Internet Explorer. The web browser was first launched in 1995 as part of the Plus! add-on package for Windows 95. Later versions were available as free downloads or in-service packs, and were included in OEM service releases of Windows 95 and later versions of Windows. According to reports, the browser peaked in 2003 with a 95 percent usage share.
据微软Edge浏览器官方微博5月16日消息，微软IE浏览器将于6月16日正式退役，IE浏览器退役后，将由Edge接力。 IE浏览器全称为“Internet Explorer”，是Windows第一个默认浏览器，推出于1995年。随着Windows系统快速占领市场，21世纪初期，IE浏览器的市场占有率一度达到90%以上。2003年，IE浏览器占据95%的市场份额，成为全球使用最广泛、市场占有率最高的网络浏览器。
