Actual wages in Japan hit a 9-year low, and the Bank of Japan’s policy may be difficult to turn around.
According to data released by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on the 7th, due to the impact of high inflation, Japan’s real wages in January fell by 4.1% year-on-year after deducting the inflation factor, marking the largest decline in nearly nine years for the tenth consecutive month. Analysts believe that the continuous decline in wages indicates that the Bank of Japan is still far from tightening its loose monetary policy.
