Chinese AI start-up DeepSeek has alerted the public about fake social media accounts impersonating its brand, founder, and promoting fraudulent cryptocurrency schemes. The Hangzhou-based company stated it only operates three official accounts on WeChat, RedNote, and X (formerly Twitter). It emphasized that its chatbot app is free and has not issued any cryptocurrency. DeepSeek’s warning comes after its V3 language model and R1 reasoning model gained global attention. The company urged users to be cautious, calling out a fake X account posing as its founder as a “typical impersonation.”
