DeepSeek’s advancements have spurred a nationwide push in China to deploy its large language models across sectors, from hospitals to local governments, as Beijing aims to solidify its lead in generative AI. Since its R1 model shook global markets in late January, rapid adoption has followed domestically, with companies and state bodies rallying behind the new AI champion. Major cloud providers, at least six carmakers, several local governments, hospitals, and state-owned enterprises have embraced DeepSeek, with the shift among traditionally conservative institutions being particularly notable.
