Harvard University firmly rejected the Trump administration’s demand to hand over detailed data on foreign students’ activities, vowing not to “surrender its independence or constitutional rights.” The standoff intensified after President Trump hinted at revoking Harvard’s tax-exempt status, calling the university a “disgrace” and accusing it of antisemitism during a dinner meeting with pastors.

Failure to comply could strip Harvard of its authority to oversee student visas. Noem accused Harvard of harboring “anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology” and endangering national security.
