Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Strengthens Ties with Shanghai Amid US Chip Curbs

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited Shanghai and met Mayor Gong Zheng on Friday, just a day after speaking with Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng. Huang’s visit, his second to China in three months, comes as the US tightens restrictions on semiconductor exports. Chinese media view these meetings as a clear sign of Nvidia’s ongoing commitment to the Chinese market.
During the meeting, Mayor Gong emphasized Shanghai’s favorable business environment. Huang reaffirmed Nvidia’s strong ties with the city, noting its importance as a major R&D hub and praising Shanghai’s large market, high-quality customers, and strong industrial ecosystem.
Huang also underlined the vast potential of artificial intelligence and stressed the need for global cooperation and knowledge-sharing to drive progress and prosperity.
